How do you calculate peptide concentration after reconstitution?
Concentration is the amount of peptide in the vial divided by the volume of liquid you added. For example, if a vial holds 5 mg and you add 2 mL of bacteriostatic water, the concentration is 5 ÷ 2 = 2.5 mg/mL. What does mg/mL mean for a reconstituted peptide?
mg/mL is a unit of measure that describes how many milligrams of peptide are dissolved in each milliliter of liquid. A higher mg/mL means the peptide is more concentrated, so a smaller volume contains the same amount. This is simply arithmetic and is provided for general education only, not as a dosing recommendation.
Does adding more water change the peptide concentration?
Yes. The total amount of peptide in the vial stays the same, but adding more liquid spreads it across a larger volume, which lowers the concentration (mg/mL). For example, 5 mg in 1 mL is 5 mg/mL, while 5 mg in 5 mL is 1 mg/mL. Any specific volume of water to use should be directed by your provider or product instructions.
How does concentration relate to the volume I draw into a syringe?
Once you know the concentration, the volume to draw equals the recorded dose divided by the concentration. For example, at 2.5 mg/mL, drawing 0.25 mg would be 0.25 ÷ 2.5 = 0.1 mL. PeptideWiz shows this as an arithmetic example through the calculator; it does not recommend any dose.
Why do I need to know concentration to use an insulin syringe?
Insulin syringes measure in units (100 units = 1 mL), so converting a milligram amount to units requires knowing the mg/mL concentration first. Without the concentration, the tick marks alone cannot tell you how much peptide you have drawn. The converter handles this math for general education only.
